Colorado man charged with child rape after assaulting 2 girls in Centre County

Investigators say a Colorado man is facing child rape charges after sexually assaulting two girls in Centre County.

According to the Bellefonte Police Department, 36-year-old Desmond Boyer faces two felony counts of raping a child, five felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, five felony counts of aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, three felony counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, two felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor and three felony counts of felony attempted rape of a child.

Police say they were contacted by a Children and Youth Services case worker in Feb. of 2019 regarding possible child abuse.

Investigators say they interviewed one of the victims in March of 2019.

According to police, the child told investigators that Boyer would assault her while she was trying to sleep.

The child explained that Boyer would say, “if you do it with me, I’ll buy you something,” according to the complaint.

The child told investigators that Boyer tried to bribe her with money and toys so she wouldn’t tell anyone about the assaults.

The girl explained that Boyer knew she liked toys, but she barely had any, according to police.

Police say they received a second referral from CYS in June of 2020 regarding another girl who’d been assaulted by Boyer.

The second girl told police that Boyer had been babysitting her when he sexually assaulted her, the complaint says.

She explained that Boyer would ask her if she’s “ready for a challenge” and that “it’s challenge time,” before the sexual assaults took place, according to police.

The child also told police that Boyer would make her watch pornography and would perform lewd acts in front of her, the complaint says.

The girl said Boyer would give her money to “buy things at the Dollar Store,” after assaulting her, the complaint says.

The child also told police that she had witnessed Boyer assaulting the first victim, according to investigators.

Boyer is being lodged in the Centre County Prison after being unable to post bail which was set at $1 million.
